Vincent. Dir. Tim Burton. Perf. Vincent Price. Cinema16, 1982. Film.
This was an absolute essential- I could not fathom leaving out such mastery, genius, from my tapestry. As this is an additive, please excuse my dislike for connecting it to previous quotes with elipsises.
Vincent is a short film by the directing master Tim Burton. A stop-motion animation, it is about the extremely troubled reflections of an 7 year old boy, that mistakes himself for Vincent Price. Vincent Malloy is a very polite young boy, but he believe himself to be disgraced from society, as he learns more and more about Mr. Price.
"His mother sent Vincent off to his room
He knew he’d been banished to the tower of doom
Where he was sentenced to spend the rest of his life
Alone with the portrait of his beautiful wife" (Burton, Vincent).
The quote is just a single example of deep deep reflection from a young boy, and how disgraced he felt when his mother sent him off to his bedroom. This definitely connects with a previous example though, as at the end of the short story/ film, Vincent quotes The Raven.
(I am a huge Vincent Price fan. Since a very very young age, I have been watching his films in awe. In grade 1 I was infatuated with The Tingler, and the original House of Wax. The man is pure perfection, as is Tim Burton, so you should pay an extra respect to the sound of Vincent Price's voice as he narrates the story. It was a tremendous honour to Tim Burton to have him want to read his short story/poem. This was just added to my tapestry because I love the two so much, and I realized that I already had two media examples)
