Nightmare Before Christmas. Dir. Tim Burton. Perf. Danny Elfman. Disney, 1993. Film.

...Jack's Lament is of the greatest examples that came to mind for reflection and disgrace, and in a musical form. Jack Skellington is reflecting upon his existence, he feels so much disgrace towards his life, because he is dissatisfied with it. Jack wants change, he wishes to not feel such contempt and disgrace towards himself, and to be able to reflect positively on himself. He feels like his existence is a waste, he has grown so tired of doing what he has been, "That the Pumpkin King with the skeleton grin, Would tire of his crown, if they only understood, He'd give it all up if he only could". (Elfman, Jack's Lament). Jack wishes to merely have a change in his life, and ends in tears, wishing that he didn't reflect upon his life so negatively. This connects to Mr. Biersack's quote in the sense that he lacks the pride and will power to move and learn from his life, and right then, he was wallowing in remorse...
